The National Finals

It was a great thrill to be part of the Castletroy GC team that reached the national finals in the Senior Foursomes. It was the first time the club had made it to finals day. So it was a very proud moment for the club.

The finals were held at Dun Laoghaire golf course which is a very tough challenge. In the morning we put up a great performance and won our quarter final. In the afternoon we lost a very hard fought semifinal against last years winners. With two of the matches going to 18 or beyond.

It was very disappointing not to make the final but we were all very proud of what we have achieved this year. it was great to receive a bronze medal to recognise the achievement.

Receiving My Medal !

Last Year at The Interprovincial

Wow that was a brilliant week. It was my third and final year and it was fantastic to be playing at Ballykisteen where I started out twelve years ago.

We had a great run this year going deep against all our opponents and winning a tight match against Connaught. Leinster won all their matches but the rest of us each had one win !

I was very proud to be part of the team over the last three years and will really miss it next year.

We’re Heading to Ballykisteen!

I am delighted and excited that I have been selected for the Munster Under 18’s for the third year running. It will be brilliant to be representing Munster at home this year.

We have a great team of players but so do the other provinces ! Ballykisteen is a great golf course with some brilliant holes, and lots of water !

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we can enjoy the course at it’s best.

I am really looking forward to meeting up with lots of my friends and having a great week !

Go Castletroy !!

As the junior captain it is a great honour to be asked to represent my club. This year has been quite a year for us at Castletroy. Whilst we lost in the quarter finals of the senior cup to Lahinch we put up a great fight !

Then the following week the senior foursomes made it through to the semi finals of the Munster West championship. The semi final and the final took place in Ennis and we were up against Lahinch again – we managed to beat them in the morning and faced Tralee in the afternoon for a place in the All Ireland Finals. Playing Tralee is always great fun as I have many friends in the team from the Munster panel. We were delighted to come through a tight afternoon of golf and are looking forward to the All Ireland Final in September.

Great Fun In Leinster

It’s been a really enjoyable season playing in all the Irish and Provincial competitions. I have really enjoyed them. The Irish close in Monkstown Cork was a brilliant competition and it was great to get to the final of the plate. Just a real shame the weather meant the match play wasn’t completed. However Golf Ireland did a fantastic job keeping the tournament going !

The Practice Green Monkstown

We have played some great courses especially Monkstown and New Forest which I really enjoyed. They were both great challenges and the members were really welcoming.

The Ulster and Connacht Opens were great competitions and I was pleased to make the cuts in both of them, shooting some good rounds on the way. I also had my low 9 in Ulster where I shot a 2 under 34 on the back nine. Maybe there is gold at the end of the rainbow !

The First Tee at Templepatrick

However my best performance of the year came in the Leinster Open where I had rounds of 76,76 and 78 for an 8 over total and third place. It was a great thrill playing in the final group. I was really disappointed to miss out on the Championship but very proud of my performance.

Faldo La Sella

Although many of my early golf experiences were formed on our family holidays in Portugal I had never played a competition outside of Ireland. As part of my ambition to improve my game I decided to play the Faldo in La Sella Spain.

We had a great time staying in the Marriott in very hot sunny weather. Dad and I played a practice round and found the course to be incredibly challenging. Especially the front 9 !!

The competition ran over three days, and each day I got to meet new people and play in different groups. It was a real thrill being in the final group on the last day, and I was delighted to finish in second place winning the silver medal and also the IMG Academy World Championship. Florida here I come !

Junior Captain

I am delighted to share that I have been made Junior Caption at Castletroy GC.

It is a huge honour for me as I love being a member at Castletroy and I am really excited to be selected. I am looking forward to taking an active role in the club, helping with junior coaching and playing in as many competitions as possible.

The Captains drive in took place on March 4th and I was very happy that I was able to share the day with my family.

I was first to tee off and managed to get a good drive away.
